Matstiming, LLC ("Matstiming," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website at www.matstiming.co.nz and the related trucker dating services (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard the personal information of members and visitors. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described below.
This policy is written for a United States audience and follows the principles of the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and applicable federal and state data-protection statutes. If a specific provision conflicts with the law of your state of residence, the stricter standard applies.
We collect only what we need to run the dating platform. We never sell your data. Profiles are reviewed by humans. You can delete your account and your data at any time from your settings.
What Information We Collect
We collect three categories of information when you register, build a profile, message other members, or browse the Service.
Information you provide directly
- Account data: name or handle, email address, password (hashed), date of birth, gender, and the gender you are seeking.
- Profile data: photos, biographical text, home city, declared lanes or routes, CDL status (self-reported, not verified against FMCSA records), occupation, and any other content you choose to add.
- Communications: messages you exchange with other members, support tickets, and survey responses.
- Payment data: if you upgrade to a premium tier, our PCI-DSS compliant payment processor receives your card details. Matstiming itself never stores full card numbers.
Information collected automatically
- Device data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device identifiers.
- Usage data: pages viewed, time on page, search queries within the Service, route entries, login timestamps.
- Approximate location derived from IP address. Precise GPS location is only collected if you explicitly enable the route-sync feature.
Information from third parties
- If you register or sign in using a third-party account (such as Google or Apple), we receive your name, email, and profile photo as permitted by your privacy settings on that service.
- Fraud-prevention partners may share signals about suspicious accounts so we can keep the network clean.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes - and only these purposes.
- Run the dating service. Create your profile, surface matches through our Route Matching Engine, deliver messages, and operate the website.
- Verify identity and prevent fraud. Confirm you are 18 or older, review photos, detect bots, and remove fake accounts. We banned 4,200+ fraudulent profiles in 2025 using these processes.
- Improve the platform. Aggregate, anonymized analytics tell us which features get used, where pages load slowly, and how to make truck driver dating easier.
- Communicate with you. Send service notifications, security alerts, password resets, and (if you opt in) periodic newsletters about new features or success stories.
- Comply with the law. Respond to subpoenas, court orders, and legitimate government requests, and enforce our Terms & Conditions.
We do not use your profile data to train third-party machine-learning models, and we do not sell or rent your personal information to advertisers.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
Matstiming uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences (such as dark mode), measure traffic with privacy-respecting analytics, and detect abuse. We use first-party cookies for essential functions and a limited set of third-party cookies for aggregated analytics.
You can control non-essential cookies at any time. For a full breakdown of which cookies we set, how long they last, and how to opt out, see our Cookie Policy. Most browsers also allow you to block cookies entirely - though doing so may break login and messaging.
Your Rights as a Matstiming Member
You hold meaningful rights over the data we store. Most actions can be performed yourself from your account settings; for the rest, our support team will respond within 30 days of a written request.
- Access. Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, in a portable format.
- Correction. Update or correct inaccurate profile information at any time, directly from your settings.
- Deletion. Permanently delete your account, profile, photos, and message history. Backups are purged within 90 days.
- Opt-out of marketing. Unsubscribe from non-essential emails with a single click; you will still receive service and security notices.
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is sold or shared (we sell none) and the right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights. To submit a verifiable consumer request, email [email protected].
Sharing With Third Parties
We share personal information only in three narrow circumstances. First, with vetted service providers (cloud hosting, email delivery, payment processing, fraud detection) bound by contract to use the data solely to provide their service to Matstiming. Second, when required to comply with a valid legal process such as a subpoena or court order. Third, in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets - in which case members will be notified at least 30 days in advance and given the opportunity to delete their accounts before any transfer occurs.
Other members will see the public portions of your profile (name or handle, age, photos, declared routes, bio). Messages remain private between you and the recipient unless reported for safety review.
How We Protect Your Profile and Data
All data in transit is encrypted with TLS 1.3. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and a per-account salt - even our engineers cannot read them. Production databases are encrypted at rest, access is restricted by role and two-factor authentication, and our security team runs quarterly penetration tests with an independent third-party firm.
No system is bulletproof. If a security incident affects your data, we will notify you and, where required, the appropriate state attorney general within the timeframes set by applicable breach-notification laws.
For practical steps you can take to protect yourself - strong passwords, spotting fake profiles, and meeting safely on the road - read our Safety Tips guide.
Children Under 18
Matstiming is strictly for adults. The Service is not directed to anyone under the age of 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If we learn that we have collected data from a person under 18, we will delete the account and all associated information promptly. Parents or guardians who believe their child may have registered should contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or the law. Material changes will be announced by email and by a prominent notice on the Service at least 14 days before they take effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
